Nothing beats fresh linen for a good sleep

Honestly, there is nothing better than a freshly laundered set of sheets for a good night sleep.

Some nights, I toss and turn, get up only to go back to bed for more tossing and turning, slthough I have far less sleepless nights than I used to.

One thing is for certain, however. I always, always have a peaceful night’s rest if there is a fresh set of sheets, pillows, and blankets on the bed. The scent is just enough so I know it’s there, but not strong enough to bother my nose and it is much better than a boring movie to put my lights out in a hurry.

I’m not sure if it’s the lavendar or lilac scent that I use or if it’s just the freshness and it doesn’t really matter.

I remember as a young girl when mom would hang the sheets out to dry no matter how cold it was outside and I think the results were the same then as they are now when bedtime rolls around. I would crawl into bed with whatever novel I was reading at the time (with a couple more under my pillow) and I would be fast asleep after a chapter or two…if I was lucky. And, in the winter when the flannel sheets went on the bed, it made for one comfy slumber.

The National Sleep Foundation (U.S) claims that research has shown that 75 percent of people say they are more excited to go to bed when the sheets have a fresh scent and about the same amount say they get a more comfortable night’s sleep on sheets with  fresh scent.

As well, and no surprise to me, they claim lavender has been noted to decrease heart rate and blood preasure, putting one in a more relaxed state. A few additional health benefits to the good night sleep certainly can’t hurt.

I don’t need a scientific study or survey to tell me that freshly laundered sheets give me a good night sleep, with or without the lavender. It has been working the wonders of the Sandman for me for decades.
