Winter is coming

This is probably one of my most favourite times of the entire year. The part where the snow comes will be even better as snowboarding and ski season starts. I find that a lot of my friends hate the snow because they associate that with cold weather. I associate with a nice, warm hot chocolate in my favourite wool sweater. I’m extremely excited for this year, because learning to be a good snowboarder has always been on my bucket list, and this year I will get the opportunity to really practice it. My boyfriend is my free teacher, as he is very skilled at it.

Another thing I love about this time of year is Christmas music and holiday baking. Well, almost. I’m counting down the days for when I can hop into my car, turn the heat on and hear the heartwarming and relaxing tunes playing through my radio. I also can’t wait to pull out those baking sheets and decorate those gingerbread men. What I am especially excited for is getting to go home and see my family, as Christmas is a time that should be spent with those closest to you who you love. I’ve never gone a Christmas without them. I am extremely thankful that my boyfriend, Jay will also get to come, as this will be our first Christmas together. Every year at Christmas I look across the table to see my sister and her boyfriend, my mom and dad and my cousins and there boyfriends, but this year will be different, as I will have a hand to hold too.

This time of year is also when I become very thankful for all the people in my life and especially to have food, shelter and a place to call home. Around Christmas time when I used to live in Toronto and in Halifax, I would see tons of homeless people on the streets in the freezing cold. I gave them some money, but wish I could do more. If you are lucky enough to be inside, be thankful, I know I am.

I would also like to say, I am very grateful for my amazing family, the love of my life and my amazing friends who always continue to put a smile on my face. To live in peace, love and happiness are what I think makes the world an amazing place to be. So go home and give a hug to your loved ones and thank them for all they do for you every day.
