Grandma gets some Paige time

Never under-estimate the power of a three-year old. After a busy work week, I got to spend a little time with my grand-daughter on Saturday evening and it was the perfect way to wind up the week.
When I got there, barbecued steak and all the fixings was awaiting me and Paige and I ate our supper together as her daddy got ready for an evening out (mommy was in Moose Jaw for a roller derby game).
I don’t get to see my favourite little person as often as I would like, so when I do, I am always amazed by the subtle changes since our previous visit. A little bit taller, a little bit wiser, but still with her incredible imagination and vocabulary.
I asked her lots of questions as we sat eating our supper and she was more than ready to tell me all kinds of stories, some of which that had me in stitches. Paige really likes when she can make her grandma laugh and with some of her tales, it doesn’t take much.
After supper was ate and the dishes were done, there was no issue in getting her into her pajamas. I figured it would be a quiet evening and she would be going to bed early. We watched her latest favourite cartoon, Peppa the Pig, and learned that Paige picked up on Peppa’s little brother, George’s use of the word, “no”. Like older people, toddlers too can be influenced by what they watch on TV. Paige also likes to imitate Peppa’s British accent, which is actually pretty cute and grandma was laughing once again.
A little bit of quiet time and it was off to bed for Paige who was yawning, but trying to fight off her sleepiness so she could spend more time with grandma. She fell asleep pretty quickly and I settled in to watch a movie until Mike got home.
It was close to 2:00 a.m by the time I got back to Bow Island, but I really enjoyed my visit with Paige. She sure knows how to erase the daily grind stuff from this cluttered noggin and enjoy some of the simple things in life. To her, it is just some time with grandma, but to me, my time with Paige is very much cherished and by the time I go see her again, she will have grown a little more and will have new things to make grandma laugh. I can’t wait.
