The new Bow Island council met for their first meeting since the election and went through the agenda in short order on Nov. 14.
Library board update
The library board met on Nov. 6 and members’ Tara Robertson, Kathy Ressler and Fran Del Hollander agreed to stay on the as board member. It was Denise Curliss that decided to step down after 14 years.
Council approved of the information.
Council approved of skate aids for preschool and inexperienced skaters during public and family skate times. The aids allow the skaters to build confidence while learning.
The town will purchase six skate aids for $200 each coming from the arena reserves fund.
Lease agreement for ambulance bay
The current agreement to have an ambulance bay at the Emergency Services building is set to expire on March 31, 2018 and AHS is looking to extend it for another five years.
On April 1, 2013, AHS exercised their first option and a new contract would take effect on April. 1 2018.
It was back in 2012 that the Town of Bow Island and AHS entered into a lease agreement for a bay to park the ambulance in the Emergency Services building. The original lease agreement was for one year term at a rate of $19,200 per annum.
Council directed administration to get more information and bring back to the next council meeting on Nov. 27.
