In the blink of an eye, how life can change. There is no rhyme nor reason sometimes why things happen how and when they do; but those life-altering moments that we all must cope with from time to time.

The important thing is that when times get tough, loved ones pull together for support, compassion, and guidance. Those loved ones may be family, friends, or colleagues and having those people close by can make the turbulent times go by much more smoothly.

Whether it is running errands, providing some food, or just lending an ear, it is always comforting knowing that people care enough to take time to just be there. No action or gesture, no matter how big or small, at these times, is ever forgotten and is always appreciated.

Don’t be afraid to cry on that shoulder. We are all human and will all shed a tear or two on occasion. And, it is comforting to be able to have somebody close by to lend their shoulder for those tears.

Also, while we sometimes are the person going through rough waters, at other times it is us who must be the strong one to provide the needed support and a shoulder to cry on, if needed. Be there when somebody is struggling with hard times or trying to find answers when dealing with tragedy. Offer to run errands, take a meal or two to the person, look after the children, or be a good listener and let the person talk if they are ready to do that.

Our lives are filled with hills and valleys; ebbs and flows and we must take the good with the bad, whether we want to or not. Whether we are the person going through it or have somebody close to us who needs us, we must be willing to put our own busy lives aside to help one and other. Give of yourself to help each other. That is another thing that makes us all human…Thank goodness.
