Take a deep breath and enjoy the spring air

Woo hoo! Hee hee! Can we all jump for joy now? Double-digit temperatures over the weekend and more nice weather forecast for next week.

I realize I write a lot about the weather, but this is truly a warm welcome that has been a long time in coming. I feels good to walk around outside wearing a hoodie, rather than a bulky old parka and sloppy, muddy winter boots.

Soon, we will all be out in our yards, cleaning out the bushes and getting our gardens ready for planting.

Some of us can’t wait and some of us can’t be bothered. The ones who can’t be bothered are too busy getting their clubs ready to hit the golf course…I assume!

As soon as the days get longer and we are heading home from work at the end of the day and it is still daylight outside, the snow just can’t melt fast enough and I don’t think I am alone when I say I welcome this spring just a little bit more than some previous ones.

I love the fresh smell of spring…at least after the streets are swept. And, I really love mornings in the spring time. The air is so refreshing in the morning; it almost is enough to add a bounce to one’s step. The fresh air and the coffee, that is. The birds are chirping, along with the crows cawing (I don’t like that so much!) and people just seem a little bit more pleasant.

The icy roads have been replaced with obstacle courses around the potholes…and not just in my community. I’m every Canadian town that is thawing out from winter is going through the same thing.

I haven’t quite dragged out my sandals yet, but that is coming soon. And the summer clothes are getting sorted and ready for the coming season.

The parka is hung in the closet and hopefully will stay there for the next eight or nine months. Same goes for the mitts, toques, scarves, and winter boots.

It’s time to take a deep breath and enjoy the nice weather.
