At a function last week, I was able to catch up with a few old friends and it sure felt good to reconnect with these people. As I was driving home later that evening, I thought about another recent occasion where I was able to reconnect with a couple people.
That time, however, it was during a sleepless night and I had turned on the computer to play some cards until I got sleepy again. I ended up, you know where….on Facebook to see that other poor saps were still awake at Stupid O’Clock in the morning. More than I initially thought, actually.
I chatted with them for a bit and promised I would visit (in the real world) as soon as I can this summer. I promise this time!!
Before long, other people were posting their “good mornings” and I went into a complete panic. Yup, the sun was coming up and this Sad Sack still had not found her pillow.
Ugh, I knew I was in for a long day and it was all my fault for turning the computer on in the first place.
The more I think about it, the more I just shrug my shoulders. Who cares? It was one night out of how many?? Sure, I lost sleep, but the catching up with old friends was well worth it.
I may no longer be a spring chicken and need every ounce of beauty sleep I can get my hands on, but some things are just more important than a bit of shut-eye and it was nothing that a late afternoon nap didn’t cure anyway. Now, don’t expect me to be pulling all-nighters too often. That won’t be happening any time soon, but I will cherish the chat that night forever and don’t regret that long night one bit.
