It’s October, playoff baseball time

Welcome to October! The leaves are turning colour, the evenings are cooler, and play-off baseball is beginning.
While my Boston Red Sox are not playing any post-season baseball this year…and they do not deserve to, the Toronto Blue Jays are definitely in the running. Having just clinched the American League East division and at the time of this writing were about to vie for the AL title, they have definitely caught the attention of sports fans across the country, whether those fans are Jays fans or not and some who never watch a game of Major League baseball the entire regular season.
Some call ‘em ‘bandwagon fans’, a saying I really do not like. Who cares if somebody doesn’t watch all year or doesn’t sport a Jays jersey or cap whenever they leave the house? They are watching and cheering now. That’s what matters.
For me, watching the last few Red Sox-Jays games was exciting and had me a bit divided. While I was cheering on the Sox to win, I was also hoping the Jays would pull off enough wins to knock the Yankees out of any chances of winning the division. By the way, a lot of Red Sox fans were feeling the same way I was.
As the play-offs begin, I will be feeling a lot less conflicted about who to cheer for. That’s a no-brainer, for sure. I may not sport a Jays jersey and am a Red Sox fan at heart, I do tell people that I do like the Blue Jays, always have, but my heart lies with the Sox. (Better luck next year, right?)
My Red Sox may not have made it into the post-season, but I have the next best thing. The Blue Jays. Go Jays!!
