Next week is for the family

The middle of February is upon us and celebrations of love are taking place for Valentine’s Day. Couples are sipping wine and eating chocolate while expressing their undying love for one another. (Right?)
I would be much happier eating pizza, watching a ball game, and putting my feet up in peace and quiet, but that’s just me!
Next week’s holiday has much more meaning for me. That would be Family Day, when I can spend time with family, playing games, chitchatting, and enjoying playtime with my granddaughter, Paige. (Playtime with Paige equals lots of imagination and plenty of laughs!)
I haven’t written about Paige in quite some time, but the little rascal is now five years old and in pre-school, so her little mind is constantly going and so is the rest of her. As all of us know, five-year-olds can move at lightning speed with no notice. One best be on their toes if you want to keep up. That’s all part of the fun, isn’t it?
Paige loves her outside time much more than any time spent in the house, so that means exploring at Strathcona or Police Point Parks in Medicine Hat. Both are ideal for getting some fresh air, exercise, and have plenty of opportunities for snapping off a few photos.
I’m not sure what the plans are yet for this upcoming Family Day and it doesn’t really matter what it is. Playtime or quiet time for grandma, either one will work just as well for me.
