Cypress is excited to offer their first ever Cypress County Connections Luncheon, a chance to help bring businesses together.
“Basically, the luncheon is open to all Cypress County businesses, individuals and organizations. And they’re invited to come to the county office for a lunch hour, making valuable connections, networking, and just meeting some of the council members and staff members,” said Beth Cash, economic development and recreation coordinator.
The event was created in response to the results of the Business Retention and Expansion report, which suggested that those who choose to make Cypress the home for their business dealings identified a lack of networking opportunities in the area.
Response to the event has been encouraging, to say the least.
“In the first, less than 24 hours, we were over half full. And it is free for Cypress County businesses and entrepreneurs. But it’s definitely something that people appreciate,” said Cash.
As of the time of writing, the event is completely booked for its April 20 debut, and there are already plans underway for a repeat in the fall.
“We’re just looking to welcome people into the county office, and allow them the opportunity to make valuable connections with other businesses and individuals,” said Cash. “This kind of event is really important, especially for rural business. Our businesses also look different, like we have a lot of producers; the event is absolutely open to our agriculture community.”
“The event will run from 11:30 till about 1:00. So around 12:00, we’re going to do a welcome from myself, the CAO, and the Reeve. And then we’ll have a quick icebreaker. And then the rest of the time will be for lunch and just networking,” said Cash. “For the most part, it will be very casual so people can have organic conversations amongst themselves. And the county is excited to welcome all these people to our office.”
