The Foremost and District Agricultural Society is eager to announce that construction on the upcoming indoor arena is soon to be underway.
Stacey Barrows, Treasurer of the Foremost and District Agricultural Society noted that it had been a long journey to get the funds to put up the initial structure, and there’s still a long ways to go, but they’re looking to have the foundation poured in the coming weeks.
“We’re just waiting on some engineering for the site. The County is doing the groundwork for us. And the building should be here in a few weeks,” said Barrows. Initially, more work was required as the land had more of a gradient than anticipated, but things are on their way.
“I’m hoping fingers crossed that we just keep raising money along the way like this, that as we go, and the building gets put up, that it will be turnkey. By the time we’re done, the dollars will just keep rolling in. And we can just keep tendering along the way,” said Barrows.
Currently, the structure itself is the focus of the construction, with tenders to hopefully go out for electrical, water, and other amenities in the future as more portions of the project are completed.
“I’ve applied for another CFEP grant and, fingers crossed that if we get that one in the fall, we can install bathrooms in the concession, then that’ll almost complete it,” said Barrows. “We’re still going to tweak things along the way where we may add (things) down the road, but it’ll kind of finish the building itself.”
