On December 16, the Seven Persons Fire Department decked not their hall, but all of their equipment, and took to the streets of their hamlet in search of food for the Root Cellar for their annual Candy Cane Run.
The parade went through the entire hamlet, knocking on every door to spread holiday goodwill and ask for donations. Community members, RCMP, firefighters, and people from the Root Cellar alike snaked down each street, as families lined up at the end of their driveways to hand over non-perishable food items.
This year’s event even featured a tractor-pulled hayride that followed the parade, playing Christmas carols and allowing kids and those disinclined to follow the proceedings on foot to join in on the festivities.
Following the parade, the community gathered in the Seven Persons Hall for a dinner, though not before allowing Santa Claus down off of the engine and removing the bright lights from all the vehicles.
