The U13 Foremost Flyers hockey team has had a season to remember, and they still have more memories to make. The team had a stellar regular season and playoffs performance, which has granted them the opportunity to compete in the Tier 3 Alberta Provincials.
With a regular season record of 12 wins, 3 ties, and only 1 loss out of 16 games, the Flyers demonstrated their dominance on the ice. Their journey to the provincials started to take shape on March 3 when they clinched victory against Medicine Hat in the playoff finals, securing their league banner.
Following their triumph in the league playoffs, the Flyers showcased their skill and determination in the Provincial Playdowns, emerging triumphant with a flawless record of 3-0. Victories over Cochrane, Rocky Mountain House, and Indus propelled them to the top of their division, earning them yet another banner and a ticket to provincials.
The playoff scores reflect the team’s unwavering spirit and talent: a commanding 5-2 win on March 2, a hard-fought 5-5 draw on March 3, followed by convincing victories of 3-1 against Cochrane on March 8, 7-2 over Rocky Mountain House on March 9, and 4-2 against Indus on March 10.
The 13 skilled Flyers will be traveling to Irma for provincials, which are slated to take place from March 21 to March 24.
The Foremost Flyers have proven themselves as champions, and now they set their sights on conquering the province, ready to showcase what a small town team can accomplish.
