Kerri Buis is one of two candidates running in the by-election that will be taking place in the Village of Foremost on May 28.

“I just felt like I should do it,” said Buis. “I think everybody should try running for Council once. It’s a commitment, but I think that everybody should give back in some sort of way.”

Aside from running for Council, Buis currently works for the County of 40 Mile, works as an EMT with Alberta Health Services, and volunteers as a medic with the Foremost Fire Department.

“Foremost is great,” said Buis. “I had grown up in a small town in Saskatchewan and then I was in Manhattan for a few years before I moved out here, and it was so good to be back in a small town.”

Buis strongly believes that her 15 years of municipal experience with the County of 40 Mile will be really helpful to her if she is elected and if that happens, she wants to do many things for the community including getting more housing for Foremost and also support the community in other ways as much as she can.

“I’d like to keep it thriving and keep the young people here, and we have a great senior population here, so I’d support that too,” said Buis.
