The Dunmore Wastewater project is moving forward as Cypress County council has approved engineering consulting services with a budget of $800,000.

The project aims to provide long-term wastewater infrastructure to support the Hamlet of Dunmore and accommodate future growth, and includes a sanitary sewer lift station, sewer transmission main and a new wastewater treatment lagoon.

The estimated cost for the project overall is $10,560,000, with the cost for engineering consulting services taking up roughly 7.2 per cent of the total estimated project cost at $759,042. It was noted this is in line with industry standards and similar municipal infrastructure projects.

An additional contingency allowance of $40,958 has been included to address any county third-party costs. The purchase of land has not been included in the project budget at this stage.

MPE Engineering was awarded the contract by a motion at the July 7 meeting over two other bids. The purchase of land has not been included in the project budget at this stage.

Funding will be sourced from the Water and Wastewater Reserve Fund for the project.
