County of Forty Mile council awarded several pins to long-term staff members at their Feb. 11 meeting. Reeve, Bryne Lengyl commended each of the recipients in attendance and thanked them for their years of service and dedication to the County.
“This is one of the more fun things we get to do as council and we appreciate the time and effort you all have put in,” said Lengyel.
County administrator, Dale Brown added that it is because of those efforts that the county has been able to accomplish its goals and get the work done smoothly and efficiently.
The awards, along with a few comments from the staff recognition ceremony are:
9-YEAR SERVICE PIN
Nathan Cote
“Nathan gives freely of his time and is respected by his peers. He is also very observant,” said Brown, giving an anecdote of when Cote, last winter would watch some of his female co-workers knit. After telling one of a mistake she had made, Cote corrected her. She told him to try it, then. And, he did.
Tom Hennebury (not present)
Steve Pitt (not present)
Jeannine Unser
“She started in the public works department inspecting equipment and worked her way up to be the public works office clerk,” said her supervisor, Keith Bodin, adding that Unser is a definite asset to the department.
15-YEAR SERVICE PIN
Alvin Cruickshank (not present)

“He started out as assistant ag. fieldman and besides sitting on regional boards and committees, he has been on the leading edge of using technology for his programs,” said Brown.
Nathan Ogden
“He is an important component to the day-to-day operations and is always willing to take on new challenges,” said Brown.
In receiving his pin, Ogden said, “I came here for one year and I have now enjoyed 15. I like and enjoy working with everybody here.” said Ogden.

25-YEAR SERVICE PIN
Todd Bodin
“He has gained extensive knowledge in operating our equipment. He resides in Etzikom and takes great pride in keeping those roads in good condition. He also inspects our bridges and culverts in the county,” said Keith Bodin.
35-YEAR SERVICE PIN
Charmaine Karl
“She has made tremendous contributions to the county and we are grateful for that,” said Brown.
Bill Nicoll
“Bill started in the public works department as a seasonal worker and has worked his way up the ranks. In 2000, he became assistant superintendent,” said Brown.
“There has not been a Monday that I have dreaded coming to work and I can say that honestly,” said Nicoll, in receiving his pin.
