Medicine Hat-Cardston-Warner MP Glen Motz was named as the Associate Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness as a part of the 2019 Conservative Party of Canada Shadow Cabinet on Friday.
Motz will be working alongside Shadow Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Pierre Paul-Hus.
“I’m thrilled,” said Motz.
“I’m honoured to serve the constituents of this riding. I’m honoured to serve Canadians as a part of the Shadow Cabinet in my role for public safety. If you look at the list of Shadow Cabinet people , they are strong, most of them pretty experienced. They’re experienced in politics and experienced in their backgrounds. We got a strong team and committed to work for all Canadians.”
Motz now will be at the table having conversations about all the issues that are talked about as a Shadow Cabinet.
“I have a seat at the table and be more involved in the English language issues in regards to public safety,” he said.
Motz says the Liberals stance on public safety is a “bunch of rhetoric” right at the moment and the Conservatives want to ensure public safety addresses gangs, illegal fire arms, border security and extremist returning to Canada and ensuring Canadians are respected and heard for their safety and public safety.
“We’re going to highlight the priorities from us to keep Canada united and strong and I think that’s the key,” he said.
Motz is wanting to bring his background in law enforcement as a good foundation for understanding issues in public safety and emergency preparedness.
