With all of the $80,000 raised at last summer’s Troy Loney Charity golf tournament in memory of Jackie Wilson going toward items needed for residents of Pleasant View Lodge, there has been some money left over after funding a walk-in bathtub and towel warmer.
So, organizers asked the residents what else they needed and one of the requests was a new piano for the common area of the lodge.
On Saturday morning, James Evangelos, from Evangelos Music in Medicine Hat, delivered and provided a tutorial on the new digital Roland piano that will now provide musical entertainment for the residents.
“This piano is very well-made, top-of-the-line and will last a long, long time,” said Evangelos.
Glen Campbell, one of the organizers of the golf tournament, said the committee was happy to provide PVL residents with the new piano, which cost approximately $6,000.
“One of the things the residents said they needed was a new piano. Now, everything is coming into fruition. On behalf of Jackie, we want to provide things that will enhance the lives of the residents here and we hope for many years of enjoyment from this piano,” said Campbell.
