Coming around once every five years, the hamlet of Burdett is getting ready for their anniversary bash.

It’s a “pretty big event,” said committee chair Justin Weatherhead.

“We’ve got fireworks on Friday night. We got the Chevelles planned at the beer gardens Friday. Saturday, we have numerous kids events, including bouncy castles and face painting, Movie Night. You’ve got a parade happening Saturday,” said Weatherhead. “Just a really action packed event. It’s always a good time, brings all the people back into the town for a good weekend.”

From June 30th–July 2nd, Burdett will be full of various events, from several dinners to live music, tractor pulls, and a show and shine.

Organization went well this past few months, said Weatherhead, with preparation starting in January.

“We’ve got a great committee. Everybody’s willing to help. We’re still looking for volunteers for a couple of events, mainly the beer gardens and help with serving. So other than that, it’s a great group. It’s the same group that usually does it,” said Weatherhead. “We’ve always managed to come together and get things done no matter whether it’s a year in advance or six months in advance, essentially.”

The event was made possible with the help of too many donors and sponsors to list, said Weatherhead.

“It’s always a fun time. Every five years we do this, it’s a great weekend,” said Weatherhead. “Hopefully, the weather will hold, and it’ll be a great time.”
