The town of Redcliff is gearing up for their annual tree lighting, with the festivities set to get the town into the holiday spirit on November 24.
Redcliff Council received the details of the event for information as part of their November 14 regular council meeting, with no questions, comments, or concerns regarding the event.
The Town of Redcliff will host the annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Winter Celebration in Memorial Park, said the staff report on the subject, from 6–8 p.m. It is being held in partnership with various organizations throughout the town, including IF Cox School, Margaret Wooding School, and the Redcliff Youth Centre.
Santa and Mrs. Claus are slated to be at the park, arriving aboard a firetruck in lieu of a sleigh, after which they will greet children under the gazebo.
Children from IF Cox and Margaret Wooding School Choirs will be performing Christmas carols, which will be followed by a holiday karaoke session, which is being facilitated by the youth centre, said the report. The youth centre will also be providing marshmallows and hot dogs, to go with the hot chocolate that will be prepared and served by White Dragon Karaoke as part of the event.
The Fire Department is preparing and monitoring various fire pits for the evening, to keep visitors warm as they look forward to the countdown to the 7 p.m. tree lighting.
In addition to the tree lighting, Parkside School will host a Christmas Market from 4-9 p.m., and local shops will extend their hours until 9 p.m. for participation in Moonlight Madness, which makes the event a town-wide celebration.
