Seven Persons Annual Family Fun Fair will take place on May 11 at various locations within the town at various times.
Debbie Penner, co-owner of Premium Sausage in Seven Persons, says that the event initially started as Premium Sausage’s anniversary sale festivities since before 2009, and it has grown into a town event.
“It all began as a yearly sausage sale, and Customer Appreciation Day,” said Penner. “We always had this sale on the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend and that tradition stuck.”
Penner says that the fair includes a parade that begins at the community hall parking lot at 9:30 a.m. and winds its way through the town streets.
“No registration is required; everyone is invited to join in,” said Penner.
In addition to that, Penner says, there will be a market in the Seven Persons school gymnasium from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. that people can attend free of charge, and if people are interested in renting tables, they can contact quonsetdays@gmail.com.
Jumping castles, pedal tractors, and the car show are all also at Premium Sausage from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Penner says, and all activities have free admission. If anyone has inquiries about the car show, they are welcome to contact Nick at (403) 528-7015.
In addition to the parade, car show, and other activities, Penner says that the fair will also have a fundraising barbeque at Premium Sausage from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the funds raised from that going to the Seven Persons Community Church children’s programs.
There will also be an open house at the new Seven Persons Fire Hall on that day as well, Penner says, in addition to a sale at Premium Sausage, door prize contests including a kid’s bike from the Cyclepath, live music throughout the day outside at Premium Sausage (if weather permits) and free coffee and cake while supplies last.
“We welcome everyone, we have lots of Bow Island and Medicine Hat visitors that come out to this event,” said Penner. “We have a wonderful little town, and we love to share the small town feel with others. We often have neighbours throughout the town site who run garage sales on this day. The more the merrier. We’ve had up to 2500 visitors in our town some years when the weather was cooperative. We have a volunteer board and plan on continuing this Family Fun Fair in the future! We get great support from our Seven Persons Community Association, Connect First Credit Union, anonymous donors, Seven Persons School and from us here at Premium. It takes a village, and we are grateful to everyone who comes out and supports our day and town.”
