Brooks RCMP say they are investigating after finding 36,000 cartons of cigarettes in a tractor trailer earlier this month.
Mounties say that on Feb. 13 they received a tip about the suspicious cargo being delivered to a local business. Officers intercepted the load and found pallets of contraband cigarettes.
Two individuals were arrested and later released without charges, according to a release, though the investigation continues.
Hair salon mischief
Brooks RCMP arrested a 44-year-old male who has been charged with mischief after police were called to a hair salon for a report of a man making inappropriate comments to staff and disturbing customers on Feb. 14.
Police say they located the male, who was subsequently charged and given conditions not to return to the business.
Community survey
Until March 4, residents are invited to provide their input around police priorities and share their safety concerns through the 2025 Brooks RCMP Community Consultation Survey.
“This is your chance to provide input on setting priorities for the Brooks RCMP in the coming year,” reads a social media post.
The short survey is open to all residents within the Brooks RCMP’s jurisdiction, and contains five questions including what area of policing do you feel should be the No. 1 priority?
