The Foremost Sage Club issues a huge thank you and reports great success with the 2025 Skate-a-Thon.
“We’d like to thank everyone for their continued participation and their commitment to the Skate-a-Thon,” said a representative on behalf of the club. “We raised $47,223.10! Yet again, a new record!”
He notes that the record has been beaten year after year, a success for which the club is very grateful.
“The funds raised go directly towards the operational and maintenance costs of the skating rink and allow us to keep our membership fees low. With your support, our goal is to keep providing a facility for all Foremost and area residents to utilize.”
Foremost Sage Club provides services in the community and administers the running of the Civic Centre Skating Rink, together with the Village of Foremost. They are known for the annual Skate with Santa and were instrumental in the fundraiser for the pool’s recent renovations.
The Skate-a-Thon is a hotly anticipated annual event that evolved from a walk-a-thon in its early years. The youth involved in the minor hockey and figure skating programs go to friends, family, and the community for donations (per lap), and many other volunteers step up to help with the event. The children are motivated by the cause along with gift cards (per age category) for the most laps done and most dollars raised. At the end, the skaters enjoy a cheeseburger and a hot chocolate.
The rep smiles, “We post on the wall how many laps each participant did, and we see those kids stare at those numbers intently for weeks after!” The spirit of friendly competition is strong..
He concludes, “The Foremost Sage Club recognizes the people before us that started this tradition, and we thank all the volunteers, donors, and participants who made this event such a great success.”
