The Redcliff Library is hosting a fun hour of drumming as a part of Alberta Culture Days on Saturday.
Drumming with Sara (Neufeld) will teach participants the art of drumming to First Nations cultures.
Neufeld is well known in the Medicine Hat area for her knowledge of drumming.
“The board wanted to host an event for Alberta Culture Days,” said Redcliff library manager Tracy Weinrauch.
“We tossed around different ideas, including trying to do the blanket exercises (a workshop that explores the relationship between indigenous and non-indigenous people in Canada) but it was a little out of what we can do so we opted to talk to Sara Neufeld and see if she could do this drumming session for us.”
Alberta Culture Days is from Sept. 28-30 this year and is an opportunity for Albertans to experience and celebrate arts and culture through local events and activities province wide.
The library has hosted picture display events in the past in partnership with the Redcliff Museum when the weekend was known as Alberta Arts and Culture Days.
“We definitely want to share any cultural aspects within the community,” she said.
The drumming session had a maximum of 15 spots available due to space and all the slots filled up.
Weinrauch added there might be another session in the works in the future.
The event will take place on Sept. 29 from 1:30 p.m.- 2:30 p.m. at the Redcliff library and people can come watch.
