Local woman charged with animal abuse has trial delayed to July

A local woman has been charged with counts of animal abuse following a resolution in the courtroom in Medicine Hat on Friday.

Sharron Brown was scheduled for trial on Jan. 17, but was granted an extension of six months, after allegedly causing harm to an unknown number of dogs.

Looking for resolution, lawyers stated they had hoped for a common-law peace bond, which was unavailable at the time.

Changing Brown’s release from a summons to a recognizance, the court was informed that as long as compliance was met, it would be much the same as the aforementioned peace bond.

With her next court appearance scheduled for July 15, all charges will be dropped should she meet the demands set out.
