This September will bring the 11th annual Parkinson Step ‘n Stride held by the Parkinson Association of Alberta.

The event will take place in 11 cities across the province on either Sept. 10 or 11. Last year, Step n’ Stride raised $325,000 for the Parkinson’s community and the goal this year is to top $400,000.

More than 15,000 Albertans live with Parkinson’s, along with thousands more affected as caregivers or family members. There is no cure for the disease and it is the fastest growing neurological disorder.

Annually, the Parkinson Association of Alberta provides close to $2 million toward support services, programs, education, advocacy and research to the Parkinson’s community. Step ‘n Stride is the largest annual fundraiser, accounting for 20% of the association’s annual budget.
