Foremost is mourning the loss of two members of the community who died as a result of a motor vehicle collision on Monday evening.
According to a statement released by the RCMP Strategic Communications Unit on Wednesday, Bow Island/Foremost RCMP were dispatched to the scene of the collision at Highway 61 and Range Road 132, west of Foremost.
The investigation has determined that a swather equipped with a 38-foot header was traveling eastbound on Highway 61, with a pilot vehicle positioned in front to escort the swather along the highway.
A westbound four-door sedan carrying two occupants was traveling westbound when it struck the swather header which had been protruding into the westbound lane.
Both occupants of the sedan sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision.
A 72-year old man and a 76-year old woman, whose identifies have not been officially released, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the swather was treated for minor injuries.
The RCMP continues with their investigation as they continue to examine the vehicles and gather other evidence and witness statements.
