The Town of Redcliff reviewed budgets, policy, and bid farewell to 2023 in the last town council meeting of the year on December 11.
It was received for information that Redcliff hosted their Tax Auction. Due to a lack of attendance at the auction, no properties were auctioned off. Council reviewed options as to what may be done with the properties, noting that their options are to continue to roll the lots over into the next year, or to take them over and try to sell them.
It was noted that the lots were risky to attempt to sell.
Council received the 2024 Operating Budget for information and adopted it as the Interim
Operating Budget for 2024. The notable changes from the budget reviewed with Council on October 27 include the removal of contracted street sweeping, removal of duct cleaning for all facilities except for the Rectangle, more accurate calculation of salaries and benefits, and revenue adjustments based on revised Fees, Rates & Charges Bylaw changes.
Administration also recommended increasing the contribution to the Redcliff Youth Centre.
Overall, the budget would result in a 2.88 per cent increase in required tax revenue, which would result in approximately $41.06 additional municipal taxes per year for the average residential property.
