The St. Michael’s Scholarship Fund helps students graduating from St. Michael’s School in Bow Island pursue post-secondary education.
Stephanie Hlady, a member of the Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta, says that the fund was created by parents from St. Michaels School in Bow Island and has been in existence for a couple of years.
The fund, Hlady says, is sustained by donations through the Community Foundations of Southeastern Alberta and is currently still being built up but will eventually provide a student money to pursue a post-secondary education.
The guidelines for granting students the awards will include the following, Hlady says: a student needs to be a hard worker, a student needs to have good attendance, a student needs to have a good focus, and a student need to have
good grades.
Preference, Hlady says, should be given to steady, all-round good students and not necessarily those with just the best grades.
“It’s very gratifying to see the fund being built,” said Hlady.
