Whether you are a new or experienced driver, Bow Island RCMP wants everyone to focus on sharing the road safely this August.
Bow Island Detachment Commander, Sgt. Alan Rivard emphasizes that your safety is the Bow Island RCMP’s top priority. Following these essential traffic safety tips will help keep our roads safe for everyone in Bow Island and the County of Forty Mile.
Bow Island RCMP urges new and experienced drivers to remember these driving tips:
• Be patient with new drivers. You were once a new driver too.
• Be aware of your surroundings. Don’t pass when it is unsafe to do so and don’t tailgate other drivers.
• Stay off your phone and other devices when behind the wheel.
• Follow the posted speed limit and drive at a speed you are comfortable with in conditions that aren’t ideal.
• Always wear a seatbelt and ensure your passengers do too.
• Be mindful of people that are hauling equipment, and safely share the road with other commercial vehicles and motorcycles.
• If you have your learner’s permit, never drive solo. You must be accompanied by a fully licenced (non-GDL probationary) individual.
There is a huge responsibility that comes with driving. Make sure you are following traffic laws and keeping our Alberta highways safe.
