With the election date approaching, Robin Knibbs, candidate for Councillor in the Town of Bow Island, shares his thoughts for the place he calls home.
Knibbs’ local experience includes being both Vice President and President of a school council. He’s also an entrepreneur, knowing firsthand what it takes to make a business successful.
“I have wanted to run at one time or the other, but being in business I wanted to wait until I had concluded my business ventures,” he says. “I retired in 2022.”
Now, he feels, is the time to give back as a Councillor.
“I would hope and like this Council to keep pressing for the highway to go through town,” he says of the discussions around the bypass. “There are way too many businesses, in addition to the town itself, affected by this.”
He adds, “My priorities would be the repair or redoing of streets. Housing is also an issue with all the lots being gobbled up as quickly as they become available. We need more rentals, and I would encourage investors in this regard. Of course, I would like to continue to attract new businesses to our town, as the past Councils have done for 10-15 years. This has been a trying thing as long as I can remember, but the positive is that we are growing.”
There is a top priority for Knibbs that stands out.
“My number one priority would continue what Council is doing in pursuing new doctors to the town. I would also like the Town to proceed with Supporting Living Level 4 care to keep our seniors in the community.”
