Tick season has arrived in southern Alberta

Prairie Rose Public Schools

As many families may have already noticed, ticks seem to be especially active around our area this spring. Outdoor adventures are part of everyday life in rural communities, and while ticks are hard to avoid completely, a little extra awareness can help keep everyone safe and keep unwanted hitchhikers out of our schools.

We encourage families to:

– Check children for ticks after spending time outdoors

– Wear appropriate clothing in grassy or wooded areas

– Remove ticks promptly and safely if found

– Check backpacks, jackets, and outdoor gear before heading to school

A quick check can go a long way in helping everyone enjoy the outdoors safely this spring.
