Prairie Rose Public Schools is seeing a strong year to date as the division moves into the final quarter of the 2025-2026 school year.
A recent meeting highlighted work done at Eagle Butte High School, with members of the South Alberta Flight Academy in attendance alongside administration. Highlights of the presentation included the expansion of programming including additions such as IB, Space Exploration, Biochemistry and Code Blue paramedic training.
The school is currently seeing increased enrolment, with both new students and those returning after previously leaving the division.
Currently, PRPS is about halfway through the fiscal year and it was noted that budget predictions have shifted from a balanced budget to a projected surplus of $889,904. As of the time of writing, revenues are projected at $84,029,331, $801,232 higher than budgeted. Expenses are projected at $83,139,427, or $88,672 over budget.
Changes are attributed to higher revenues in areas such as sales and services and investment income, along with adjustments to provincial funding, where variance in expenses is related to staffing and operational costs across the division.
Trustees approved a three per cent increase to support staff compensation, as of the 2026-2027 school year. They also approved in principle an international field trip for South Central High School to Greece and several historical sites.
