It was a birthday party of the century when Orion and manyberries held their Centennial celebrations over the weekend.
On July 1, folks from Orion and many who used to live there held a social for people to get together for some reminiscing and chit-chat.
Long-time Orion resident, Boyd Stevens said it was a wonderful way to celebrate and he was able to re-connect with old friends he hadn’t seen in 35-40 years.
The following day, the festivities were held in Manyberries, starting with a parade that has people lined up and down the street so they could cheer on the floats, cowboys and cowgirls, vintage car enthusiasts, and local 4H youth.
The afternoon was filled with activities for all ages. Bouncy castles for the youngest visitors and stories and a music jam for adult guests.
People came from far and near to help Orion and Manyberries celebrate, with guests from throughout southern Alberta attending. One Calgary-based photographer, who has traveled through the area in the past, made the day trip to attend.
Manyberries Centennial committee member, Marlene Bodin said overall, it was a great weekend and a great event.
“I think everybody was really impressed with our celebration. It all went pretty good, in my view,” she said.
