The damage was minimal in Cypress County and the County of Forty Mile when a relentless wind storm blew through southeast Alberta on Apr. 1.
According to municipal officials in both counties, no damage was being reported to either area.
Other than some downed trees, the worst of the damage hit Redcliff when the wind knocked down a power pole on the northwest end of town.
“It was right on the northwest edge of town and it went down about 6:30 p.m., affecting 1,270 electrical customers,” said Wilbur McLean, communications officer for the City of Medicine Hat’s utility department.
Utility workers had the power restored to most of the customers in 68 minutes.
Winds were recorded at 80-90 km per hour during the storm that lasted several hours.
