The Province of Alberta has requested that each municipality to provide deferrals of utility payments during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Town of Bow Island council directed administration recently to not apply penalties or disconnect services for 90 days from March 31 through May 31 billings.

All utility accounts are eligible for the deferrals, while any late payments will not be accessed during this period.

For those residents who are set up for automatic withdrawal, they are to contact the town office to request a suspension of withdrawals or change their payment schedules.

The easiest way is to email Monique@bowisland.com with your name, and account number or by contacting the town office at (403) 545-2522.

Only account holders will be able to sign up for the deferral of the account.

All the monthly charges will continue to be billed to your account and a bill will still be sent out to residents each month.

Utility charges are not be waived and balances will still have to be paid to the town by June 30 after the deferral period.

Penalties will be charged to overdue accounts at that time.
