Lots of activity in Irvine

Valentine’s Day was special at the Irvine Hotel when party patrons danced to their own favorite jukebox selections.
The following Saturday the hotel held a “Pimp & Ho” party with some revelers dressed in style. Musical entertainment was provided by the ever-popular Blair-e-oke and the Go-Go Grannies. Look for their re-appearance on the third Saturday of every month.
The Irvine Curling Club’s men’s bonspiel took place February 12-14 with 13 teams competing. A Event winner was Clarence Archer. B winner was a team sponsored by Canine Reflections. Curtis Vossler won C Event.
All participants dined on beef-on-a-bun and beans on Friday evening. Each player received a door prize. The handyman basket went to Gary Haus.
Irvine Minor Hockey’s Initiation team hosted a tournament last month involving six junior teams: the Irvine Bulldogs, Shaunavon Badgers, Medicine Hat Senators, Lethbridge Dynamites and Okotoks Sharks. A tournament at this age level yields no top winners but does introduce beginners’ teams to tournament play as well as provide a day of outstanding fun.
Bingo players indulged in an evening of their sport at New Horizons Hall on February 21. Look for more of this on each third Saturday except during summer and December.
“Nature’s Arbre,” the new coffee room located in the New Horizons building and operated by Pauline Robinson, is now open for breakfast and lunches five days a week, as well as ATB banking.
The Complex concession is closed to weekday food services as of March 1, though you might still find a cup of coffee.
The Peace United Church kitchen crew, together with the Redcliff colleagues, gathered at the Irvine Complex last week to produce another supply of frozen cookie dough for sale.
