Disappointed in Commentator’s coverage of Foremost Rodeo

Posted on August 17, 2022 by Ryan Dahlman

Editor:

l waited 2 weeks after the Foremost rodeo to see a writeup in the 40-Mile County Commentator about our weekend, but my waiting was in vain. I did see a few pictures scattered throughout two separate editions, almost as though they were an afterthought or fillers. There was no story and no mention that it was the 75th Anniversary of Foremost Rodeo with participants from 4 generations of cowboy families. We had an AB Rodeo Princess in the parade (again no pictures or mention that it was the largest parade in many years) a car show and horse/buggy rides as well as three evenings of rodeo events and daytime entertainment.

I even wrote directly to Ryan Dahlman, editor, hoping that the second week of news reporting would show an improvement. He did not respond to my email, nor was there any better coverage.

By the way, when I used Google Search to find contact information for the paper, there were several headings of “Bow Island Commentator” and the e mail bowislandcommentator.com.  Perhaps that’s why the Foremost Rodeo didn’t get a front-page story.
