A hydraulic fracturing company has opened up shop in Dunmore, at a time when some of the larger operations have closed their shutters and headed east.
Mike Mamona, station manger for Millenium Stimulation Services’ Dunmore office said expanding to southeat Alberta made a lot of sense for them.
“For one, there are a lot of really good frackers in this area, so finding quality workers won’t be a problem,” said Mamona.
“Plus, the Medicine Hat area is pretty central for us. We are doing a lot of work in the Kindersley area, the Estevan area, into Manitoba, and in the Red Deer/Provost area. Our main focus is in the Kindersley/Estevan areas, though,” he added.
Millenium’s headquarters are located in Calgary.
The company held an open house and job fair at their Dunmore location on April 16, which Mamona said was very well attended. The company is looking for approximately 60 workers initially to fill two or three crews, with possibly more being hired in the future.
“We may go up to 100 in the future. We don’t anticpate having any problems filling the positions and we are hoping that natural gas will rebound soon,” he said.
