Correction: Holsom Road fire

Posted on September 2, 2015 by 40 Mile Commentator
A massive, quick-moving stubble fire, driven by strong winds north of Highway 523, between Range Roads 65 and 70. The fire was caused by an electrical power line and destroyed approximately $100,000 worth of hay bales.

The stubble fire we reported on in this week’s paper started when a power line snapped and ignited hay bales nearby and quickly spread through the surrounding fields. We incorrectly stated the location of the fire as being south of Hwy 523 between Range Road 65 and 66. It was actually located north of the highway between Range Road 65 and 70, mostly burning on either side of Range Road 70.
