Taria and Curtis Gouw, owners of Apple Drugs strive to always provide the best possible service for their customers and say their daily interactions with their clientele is part of what they enjoy best about running the pharmacy.
“We love the community and love the pharmacy and realize how important small business is in rural communities,” said Taria.
Because of their excellent, comprehensive service to the community, Apple Drugs was selected to be this year’s Small Business of the Year, it was announced at the Chamber of Commerce’s recent awards night.
The couple took over the drug store in 2008 from Steve and Barb Onischuk, with Taria overseeing the pharmacy and Curtis operating the business side. Both attribute a loyal, hard-working staff to the success of the drug store.
“We have an excellent staff who puts their heart and soul into the business,” said Curtis.
Taria added that knowing their customers could go elsewhere, but remain loyal to Apple Drugs, is important to them as business owners.
“We don’t take any of it for granted. We appreciate our customers, but we know Taber and Medicine Hat are only a short drive away,” she said.
