Auditor signs off on Town finances
Auditor Derek Taylor of KPMG LLP gave Redcliff a passing grade on its finances for the 2015 year at last Monday’s council meeting. Overall Redcliff took in about $2 million more in revenues last year over 2014 despite a stumbling economy. Much of this due to grants received for major infrastructure projects. The Town had an overall operating surplus of $1,141,936.
Thanks to the infrastructure investments in the community last year the town now has capital assets of over $87 million, (up $10 million from the year before).
Redcliff also has about $9,881,219 in unrestricted surplus.
Town Hall front steps makeover and other last minute budget changes
Council made a motion to amend the 2016 budget to include a $25,000 capital expenditure to fix the front steps of the town hall.
In the same motion, council also approved an additional $3,611 to allow councillors and staff to attend more professional development opportunities.
An additional $61,297 was included for 2016 School Requisition to bring the final total to $1,982,671.
The final rate for 2016 Lodge Requisition came to $67,957; $847 more than expected.
The annual Physician Recruitment debursement was $15,150.
FCSS Community Development Activities got an increase of $13,250.
