A grassfire that erupted north of Bow Island last week was caused by a downed power line, according to fire chief Kelly Byam.
The fire, which went down into the coulee, took firefighters from Bow Island and the Burdett volunteer fire department more than two hours to extinguish.
“There was a bit of a breeze blowing at the time, not really windy, but enough to keep the flames moving,” said Byam.
While there was no structure damage, the fire was getting close to a farm house, but firefighters sprayed around it and were able to keep the fire away.
