Bow Island residents should not be alarmed if they see emergency workers converging at the Senator Gershaw School area on May 4.
The Bow Island fire department will be conducting a mock motor vehicle collision to educate young people about the consequences of texting and driving, as well as the importance of wearing a seatbelt.
“We want to let people know so they don’t panic,” said fire chief Kelly Byam.
Byam said all Bow Island schools, as well as Burdett School have been invited to the demonstration, slated to take place at 10:30 on the morning of May 4 and is expected to last approximately one hour.
The HALO rescue helicopter may also be making an appearance at the scene.
The public is welcome to attend the event.
