After lots of deep thinking and consideration, County of Forty Mile reeve Bryne Lengyel has decided to not run in the upcoming municipal election.
“I’ve done a lot of thinking over this, but I won’t be running,” said Lengyel. “This is a very busy county and it’s getting busier. With new regulations and standards coming down on us from the government, it will always be busy.”
Lengyel began his career in local politics sitting on the municipal planning commission for the County of Forty Mile, prior to sitting as a councilor, and currently, serving as reeve.
Lengyel said his run with municipal politics has been a wonderful, fulfilling experience.
“It has been a great experience and something I am very happy I did,” he said. “The county staff have been wonderful. I have worked with some great people and this is a great place to do business.”
Lengyel added that the time is right for him to pass the torch onto somebody else.
“I feel really good and there are a few other things that I want to do. It’s time for somebody else to take over.”
