County passes public notification bylaw

The County of Forty Mile passed motions for current bylaws, renewing an agreement with Alberta Municipal affairs for industrial properties and library levies at the Feb. 28 meeting.

Public notification bylaw
Council passed third reading of the bylaw to establish an alternate methods for advertising statuatory notices.

Policy and Bylaw Review Policy
The purpose of of this policy is to establish a process to ensure that council and administration are regularly reviewing the county’s policies and bylaws. Policy was approved.

Alberta municipal affairs industrial properties agreement
County council agreed into a new three year partnership with Alberta Municipal Affairs on designated industrial properties.
Municipal affairs requires services to be provided and materials delivered related to assessment of designated industrial properties and associated undertakings including defense of appeals. The contract started on Jan.1, 2018 and will run until Dec. 31,2020.

Library levies

The Shortgrass Library Systems board outlined their proposed 2018 materials and operational municipal levy.
The materials levy rate for 2018 is $4.98 per capita and the operational municipal levy rate is $ 5.12 per capita.
For the county, their contribution has increased to $3,141.70 this year with the change in population, while the levy rate is at $36,168.38.
