Families will have to wait a little while longer before they can make their own splash at the potential Foremost Splash Park, which is expected to break ground in 2019.
Project organizer Blake Klatt said they don’t really know yet what the design will look like until they count how much money that has been raised this far and grant money that is received.
“I think a lot of people with younger families are kind of excited to have something for younger kids to do in town,” said Klatt.
“(It’s) pretty important because it keeps people in town. They’re not trying to go swimming somewhere else.”
The project’s cost will depend on what style of park that is decided on, while the tentative location is by the pool.
“We’ve talked about it through council, it’s been about a year now,” said Klatt, who is also a village councillor.
“I think they’re happy for anything that will benefit our town. It will be a county kind of thing because a lot of people that live on a farm come into Foremost.”
A few different designs have been looked at but nothing set in stone.
The total to date is $150,000 through generous donations and fundraisers in a year.
He hopes to hear some answers in the fall on the grants.
