Dunmore-based Safety Buzz will be hosting a Level C (basic first aid training) course next week in Bow Island for those people interested in being trained to save a life.
Level C course is a standard two-day ACPR course that teaches a person about CPR, cuts, bruises, breaks and what to do with hazardous material in a house.
Bow Island had the course two months ago and it was a full course, says Trevor Copeland, Safety Buzz’s sales coordinator.
“We just felt that being that there is more of a demand in the agricultural industry due to the safety changes that we were going to offer another course,” said Copeland.
“They changed it where they’ve got to take more safety training. So we’re finding that more farms are putting people through the first aid course. We find that there is more of a demand in these small communities.”
Bow Island was a chosen location because there was enough interest to have staff travel to the town.
“There is a enough demand to do what we call on site where we’ll go to locations to offer safety training,” he said.
“If it’s not first aid, it could be confined space, ground disturbance, H2S (and)equipment training.”
The course is open to the public and happening on May 23-24, starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Bow Island Legion.
Registration can be done through contacting Copeland through trevor@fssafetybuzz.ca or by calling him at (403) 502-2424.
