Redcliff’s Seniors’ Society Centre is the ideal place to visit with its dynamic and social benefits. If you’re 55 years plus and want to share in the fun with some new friends, come out to the centre and become a member.
Society President Jim Steinke said the centre is doing really well. “We have different activities.”
Activities, he noted, include wist, cribbage, an exercise group and every third Thursday night there’s a potluck supper and bingo. “We always have a good time,” he said.
“Especially for the potlucks and bingo. We have a lot of fun. We usually have somewhere in the neighbourhood of about 60-75 people that come out for that.”
This has been Steinke’s first year as society president and elections were held on Nov. 7. He added he was up for re-election. Elections are held in November and those elected take over their positions in January of each year.
“Our general meetings are the first Thursday of the month, which was this past Thursday,” he said.
Memberships to the society are $15 per year, which is an excellent bargain. “Which is almost a non-heard-of cheap amount,” according to Steinke. The society has close to 150 members.
“People can get out for not a great deal of money to have some entertainment,” he explained.
Members, he noted, are 65 years of age and up, but there is a percentage of members who are 50 and up too. “Everybody seems to be enjoying the activities.”
Steinke said the card parties are well-attended and there’s pool Tuesday afternoons and a woodcarver group that meets Monday nights.
Tickets are also on sale now for $15 for the upcoming Christmas Supper Dec. 5.
