The Foremost Pool opened for swimmers June 1.

“As of right now we have household bookings—so 10 people can come swimming right now,” said Sascha Beacome, the pool’s chief guard.

Those 10 swimmers can be from different households but will have rent a time before jumping in the pool.

Swimmers will have to either call into the pool or come in and staff will let them know the times available for their booking.

“They’ll have to call two days prior or they can do drop in, but they’ll risk the times being already booked,” she said.

Beacome said the time length will be about an hour or a half hour.

Household swimming will be during the day until 7 p.m.

COVID screening and household booking sheets will have to be filled out before entering the pool.

“If they’re getting too close to each other we’ll just make sure that they stay two metres apart,” said Beacome.

Four swimmers will be allowed for lane swim and 10 for Aquafit.

Lane swim is Tuesdays and Thursdays and Aquafit is Mondays and Wednesdays, with both programs being from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The importance for opening the pool this year was emphasized after being closed last year due to the construction of the splash park.

“Since we weren’t opened last year, a lot of people were kind of upset and it’s really important for guards who work here and for everyone who loves to come swimming,” said Beacome.

The splash park has been open for three weeks and only 10 people at a time are allowed access.
